Our Policies

Check-in and Check-out
We try to be incredibly flexible with our guests when checking in or out and do our best to accommodate requests. We allow drop-offs as early as 6:00 am and pick-ups as late as 8:00 pm. There may be times when requests cannot be accommodated but we will do our best! All pick-ups and drop-offs between 6:00 to 7:30 am and 6:30 to 8:00 pm are by appointment so we ask that customers let us know if they expect to arrive during these time slots. In between 7:30 am and 6:30 pm we have an open policy!

What to Bring
For check-in we ask that new customers bring one completed copy of the contract and a completed client information sheet for each dog that will be boarded. You can download these forms from the “client forms” section on this page. We also require a copy of your dog’s most recent vaccinations for our records. We ask that you bring your dog’s regular food. If we do run out of food while you are away we will purchase the same type of food in sufficient quantity to last until your return. Owners are also welcome to bring their dog’s bed and any toys or treats that their dog is used to having on a regular basis. We provide stainless bowls and raised Kuranda beds.

Late Pick-ups
No extra charges will be incurred if your dog is picked up by 10:00 am on the scheduled pick-up day. After 10:00am there will be additional charges. These charges will not exceed the $25 we charge for daycare.

Our Emergency Guarantee
There may be times when for health or family reasons you require emergency, last minute boarding for your dog.   At Iron Horse we provide our regular customers with  the added comfort of knowing that we will find a space for their dog during these difficult times.  Emergency pick-up at your home is also available if needed.

Peak Periods, Holiday and Long Week-ends
We do not increase our rates for long week-ends or holidays.  For new customers, we require a  50% deposit to reserve bookings during peak periods.

Accommodation For Cats

We also offer boarding for cats. With a full private room to themselves our feline guests can enjoy lounging in the two large windows or by the electric fireplace. Guests are welcome to bring any cat climbers or toys that will make their pet’s stay more relaxing and enjoyable.

Vaccination Policy

Our vaccination policy is slightly different then many boarding kennels and has been developed after extensive research and consultation with veterinarians. First and foremost, your pet’s health and safety is our highest priority. We firmly believe that decisions about your pet’s healthcare should be made by you in consultation with your veterinarian. If you are in the care of a Holistic Veterinarian we will work with you to support your healthcare choices for your pet.

We follow the American Animal Hospital Association’s (AAHA) guidelines for vaccination. Their vaccination task force reviews current research and publishes recommended vaccination schedules for pets. As per their recommendations we request that core vaccinations be completed every three years. After three years we will accept titers to confirm continued immunity in your pet. Exemptions are available for pets that have experienced serious adverse reactions to vaccinations with the signing of a waiver. We do recommend yearly vaccination with Bordetella/Kennel Cough vaccination. If you have any questions about our vaccination policy or concerns specific to your dog please don’t hesitate to ask.
